Donate a Vehicle
When is an old car useful to the prairie?
When it is donated to Vehicles for Charity on behalf of the
Plains Conservation Center!

Have an extra vehicle that you would like to get rid of?  Donate your vehicle on behalf of the Plains Conservation Center. The law allows a deduction equal to the gross proceeds from the sale of the donated vehicle. If you donate a working vehicle directly to the PCC and we keep and use it, fair market value may be deducted. Consult your tax advisor for details.

To donate a vehicle please call 303-308-2400 or 1-866-628-2277.  Please let them know you are donating on behalf of the Plains Conservation Center.

What can I donate?
You can donate any vehicle to the Plains Center, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles.

Your vehicle donation will be sold at auction and the proceeds of the sale will come to the PCC.

Currently, Plains Conservation Center's Car Donation program accepts donations in the Denver metro area and the northern Front Range, Grand Junction, Pueblo and Vail.

What do I need to donate my car?
The title to the car must be in your name. We will also need some information about where the car is located and the condition of the car. This will assist us in scheduling appropriate towing arrangements.

Mary Ann Bonnell

Will you pick up my car?
A tow company will call you to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle. (Along the I-70 corridor between Denver and Grand Junction, your vehicle will be collected at a prearranged exit.) You will need to give the driver the keys to the vehicle as well as your signed title. You will be instructed on how to sign the title.

The driver may have you sign some paperwork authorizing the tow. The driver will leave you a tow receipt showing that he/she collected the vehicle on behalf of the Plains Conservation Center via Vehicles for Charity.

How is the value of my car determined?
The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the gross proceeds from the sale of your donated car, truck or RV.

A donor will be limited to the gross selling price of the donated vehicle on their tax return unless the organization that they donate their vehicle to keeps and uses the vehicle. In that case, and if the charity certifies their intended use of the vehicle the donor may be able to deduct a fair-market value with written acknowledgment. There has been an update added to the IRS wevsite regarding vehicle donations. It can be found here: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=131660,00.html
