Skip & Loafer Anime's 2nd Season Reveals April 2027 Debut in Teaser Video
The highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Misaki Takamatsu's manga, Skip & Loafer, has finally been announced. The teaser video reveals that the show will debut in April 2027, marking a significant milestone for fans of the series. This news comes as a surprise to many, as the first season only premiered in April 2023, leaving a gap of four years between the two seasons.
The original manga, published in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine, has been a hit with readers, ranking #7 in manga for male readers in the 2020 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook. It was also nominated in the 13th Manga Taisho awards in 2020 and the Best General Manga category of Kodansha's 44th annual Manga Awards in 2020. The story follows Excellent student Iwakura Mitsumi, who dreams of leaving her small town and making a positive impact in the world. However, she's not prepared for the overwhelming city life that awaits her in a Tokyo high school.
The anime adaptation of Skip & Loafer premiered in April 2023, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The first season was directed by Kotomi Deai and produced by P.A. Works, with music composed by Takatsugu Wakabayashi and character design by Manami Umeshita. The second season will also be directed by Deai and produced by P.A. Works, with Wakabayashi returning to compose the music and Umeshita returning as character designer.
The teaser video also reveals that the second season will feature a new composer, MICHIRU, and a new art director, Sō Senoo. Other staff members include Mio Fujishima as sub-character designer, Sara Sakoe and Hiroyuki Honda as main animators, Satomi Higuchi as prop setting, Ryo Murakami as 2D design and subtitle design, Masahiro Murakami and Sumie Murakami as special effects, Yūta Fujii as background art, and Akane Ueda as director of photography. The 3D director will be Motonari Ichikawa, and the editing will be handled by Ayumu Takahashi.
Seven Seas Entertainment will release the manga digitally and in print in English, and it describes the story as follows: Excellent student Iwakura Mitsumi has always dreamt about leaving her small town, going to a prestigious university, and making positive change in the world. But she's so focused on reaching her goals that she's not prepared for the very different (and overwhelming) city life that awaits her in a Tokyo high school. Luckily, she makes fast friends with Shima Sousuke, a handsome classmate who's as laid-back as she is over-prepared. Can this naive country girl make it big in Tokyo with Sousuke by her side?
